Fitness goal with this sponsorship

I’ve been an athlete for as long as i can remember but have had ups and downs with my weight. I’ve play volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, Olympic weightlifting, and dance. I’ve also always been around 25% body fat.

Food has always been something i don’t have control over. No matter how good I got on the court, i struggled with clean eating and losing weight. I love to eat, savor my food, and try new things. Sticking to a nutrition plan has proven to be the missing piece in reaching my fitness goals.

I want to lower my body fat percentage from 25% to 18 % while maintaining my athletic ability and personal happiness. I know that insane crash diets won’t help me keep the body I want long term and it isn’t a healthy way to live! I’m looking forward to eating healthy meals to reach my goals.

Local Foodz Meals will be a tremendous help to me by removing the burden of shopping, macro planning, prepping, and calorie counting my meals. My biggest pitfall was second guessing the nutrition plan I had put in place myself. When I didn’t see results I would assume it was due to poor planning, then binge eat for a week, and try to find a new plan.

Sometimes we need experts to step in. I trust the macro calculations and clean preparation behind my meals from LoCal Foodz and am ready to commit to the tree-month transformation!

Tell us why you think you would be a good fit for the LoCal Foodz 3 Month Sponsorship program?

I’ve been an athlete for as long as I can remember. My dad is a P.E. teacher and from a very early age he had my sister and I practicing free throws, volleyball serves, and agility work on the weekends and after school. I played sports competitively through college and maintained a very consistent look and physique. I played basketball, volleyball, softball, rhythmic gymnastics, weight lifting, you name it. I was muscular, with some soft spots on my lower stomach and legs. Strong, but not lean; an athlete that loved to eat.

When I started college I gained the typical ‘freshman 15’ and was okay with it because, after all, it was so common there was a clichéd phrase in place to describe it. But the weight didn’t come off, it increased. That wasn’t my only set back. Each year I was in college, (2008-2012) a friend passed away. All unexpected and untimely loses. Fitness was no longer something I put effort into when grieving, work, and school hogged my energy and focus.

When I graduated, I had to focus on getting a job, paying bills, and figuring out life in the city. Fitness was something I couldn’t afford and it was becoming more and more unfamiliar. I had never been in as poor of physical and emotional shape as I was at that point. Cookies, sugary lattes, and unhealthy dinners were common emotional bandages after a long day at work.

By the time I turned 25 I had finally landed a job that allowed me to save money. The company even got us a lower rate at a nearby gym. I would go to the gym 2-3 times a week spending most of my time on steady state cardio. Unsurprisingly, I saw little reward for my effort. I knew I needed help soon, or I would lose the fitness motivation I worked so hard to get back.

I hired a personal trainer August 2015. It was a big investment but one I knew I had to make. It has dramatically changed my life for the better and has been instrumental in improving the quality of my social, emotional, and physical health. The one facet in my health that I have yet to gain control over is my nutrition. I can squat 225lbs but can’t power through a week of clean, macro compliant eating. I’m stronger and healthier than ever, but still have the 25% body fat that I’ve carried with me my whole life. My hope is that working with the experts at LoCal Foodz and Max Muscle, I can finally gain healthy control of my nutrition and compete in my first bikini competition.

Nutrition is the missing piece I need to reach my fitness goals, and I know I can benefit from your help. I’m dedicated to getting down to 18% body fat by 2017.

What separates you from other applicants?

Over this past year I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge from my trainer and am able to put together creative and effective workouts for myself 5 times a week.

Do you currently compete in any sports?

I play volleyball recreationally on Tuesday nights.

What are your fitness goals for the rest of 2016?

My goal is to go from 25% body fat to 18% while maintaining lean muscle mass, athletic ability, and overall happiness.

Describe yourself in 5 words

Scrappy, motivated, athletic, creative, thoughtful.

What is your favorite healthy meal?

Diced chicken breast, spinach, scrambled eggs, salsa. Sometimes wrapped in a tortilla.

My favorite LoCal Foodz meal is the salmon!

What is your favorite exercise?

Circuit training is my favorite because the moves vary and I challenge myself to complete each set faster than the last. I like to mix it up and focus on keeping my heart rate up.

Tell us why or how a LoCal Foodz Sponsorship would help you

The LoCal Foodz sponsorship will help me gain control over my eating by removing the burden of planning, buying, and preparing healthy and delicious meals. Having my meals prepared for me removes the opportunity for me to purchase cheat items at the grocery store and second guess what I’ve made for myself. I’ve tried different macros, cutting calories, supplements, even veganism. These diets usually result in me second guessing my plan and a few days of binge eating when I don’t see progress. My goal is to use LoCal Foodz meals to gain control over the food I eat so that I can finally lower my body fat and show others that women who lift are healthy, strong, and confident.
